Cannot login to DB when installing Speed Test Server

description

When installing the Speed Test Server software, the installer prompts for a user name and password. Using the default Postgres install options (i.e. username postgres, servername postgres), the message "Unable to connect to the specified database Please verify your entries in the Server Details section". See left side of attached screen shot.

1) I am able to log directly in to the database (as per the right side of the attached jpg) usingPGAdminIII, so this suggests my username and password are correct.
2) My firewall is set to allow the program/port used
3) tried on 2 seperate PCs (XP home/XP Pro)
4) As you can see from the screenshot, I am runing Postgres 8.4
5) IIS is setup and running
6) .NET 3.5 is installed

I have followed the instructions on pages 2 of Speed Test Server Setup to no avail

Any ideas?

The server name should be the name of the pc as it appears on the network. Is postgres correct in that case? If so, you might try entering 'localhost' and see it allows you to progress beyond this step.

Thanks, that did the trick. I am now seeing the Error 22023 issue now though.

May I ask what country you're in? That post (22023) has a fix in the comment following the bug description, but I would like to fix this so it doesn't happen. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to repeat on my machine, so I believe it has something to do with the default language that PostgreSQL uses on installation, which is dependent on the locale of the machine.

UK (I also tried setting the language to UK English, US English and default, all with same result).
